i think this the proper moment i introduce my friend, xty… the woman whose name is as x-rated as she is… (she’s going to have my hide when i return to the phili).
she is the supernova who never gained weight since elementary.
ugh! it’s so unfair, the way she just eats and never had to worry ’bout an ounce in her life.
who would have thought that the superjock extraordinaire
is also this beauty?
seriously though… there’s more to xty than i expected…
we were the tough competitors back in high school. we were friends but we didn’t like each other much. hehe… (or was it just me?)… well, that is something that xty and I have managed to overcome way back in college.
you see, we’re both proud and stubborn in the same degree. mind you, she has higher IQ than me, excelled academically more than i did and she was also the queen of the softball diamond. she can throw a mean pitch, can catch a ball and still bat those eyelashes to her crush and she wouldn’t mind having those marks on her legs if it meant winning the game. sort of like geena davis in what’s-that-movie-with-madonna?
xty and i sort of went our separate ways in UP… she was "the" engineering student and i was just, well, somebody who went to the timbuktu part of the campus. we sort of caught up before graduation, i think. that was the time we realized that hey, whatever differences we had in the past, we were friends, after all.
then she ran into some trouble. and i was pigheaded enough not to help her. and even now i cannot forgive myself for that idiotic mistake. it’s something to remember, though, and helps me give a second thought now whenever i hear a friend needing help.
whatever that trouble was, xty turned out to be a fighter. she’s had a bit of a rough life too… but she’s still showing how much of a survivor she is. she’s had her share of bad relationships but that has never diminished her zest nor made her shy about having another one with ‘lan. (ano ba? kelan ba kayo seseryoso at lalagay sa magulo?) she’s never introduced me to her beau yet… i’ve only seen him in photos which maybe an indication of how proud she is of him and the depth of her feelings for him…
the best thing about xty… she’s had her downs… but she’s always trying to be on top… (uh, mukhang dapat testimonial to noh?)…
(for you, xty… for digging me up from the grave of my insanity… )
True friends never judge–we’ll stand
