Sunrays and Saturdays
It’s not in
The Hague . It’s more local than you know. Somehow, on a weekend, we met. Brother, sisters, children again. Uncomplicated, undemanding, easy and comfortable.
The sun was once again warming our backs, the wind gently touching our faces.
The scene was not that spectacular yet a very easy silence has descended on us. Each of us wrapped up in our own little thoughts. Or maybe, we weren’t thinking of anything at all. We were just us - beings… existing… floating…
Yonder, giant oil digging contraptions stood. Small ships sat or passed by. Nearby, boys practiced on their small boards as gentle waves by the shore gently carried them ashore.
We saw the sun go down even as the stars began to slowly glitter in the growing dusk. Simultaneously, Luna appeared in her fullness.
We are no longer on that enchantingly cold place called Schev. We no longer take off on impulse to bike all the way down the beach or around Centrum.
As we drove off, however, Irish and I agreed that the magic lies in being simply us… persons in our own rights… without any pressures or expectations attached… we might as well have been persons without names nor professions… persons without need to intellectualize everything… no pretensions… neither complicated by everyday life… just plain acceptance of who we all are.
We were simply the three of us… together… over pasta, wine, off-key singing, pancakes… sigh… till next time…
